Pencil Leg Dining Table: Pictured with one of its two 22″ leaves inserted, this 72″ x 48″ cherry extension table opens to 116″ when fully extended. This very stable eight leg design can support additional leaves. The tapered octagonal (pencil) legs were inspired by the tapered octagonal posts on pencil post beds; see the link below. When the second Eldredge brother and his wife asked me to make them a dining table the same size as the one I designed and built for his brother, but different, this is the design that won. I have made numerous sizes of the pencil leg dining table and desks in this style as well. Depending on the wood, finish and moldings this style fits nicely in both traditional and contemporary settings.
