Windsor Furniture: The Windsor chair was developed in the vicinity of High Wycombe, England in the late 17th century, but was named for the largest local town of Windsor, Berkshire, England. The design is characterized by a solid wood seat into which are inserted turned legs, stretchers, posts, and spindles of various degrees of delicacy. The style combines steam-bent bows-backs, cut and shaped arm pieces with turned spindles and legs to create strong durable and relatively lightweight chairs. 

     My technique, learned as am employee of Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers from 1980 – 1986, substitutes laminated bends for steaming.  Cherry and other less porous hardwoods do not steam very well, but can be bent-laminated into all sorts of curves.  The common theme in my little Windsor Furniture Line is spindles and bows.  Here is a photo of  one of two variations of an arm chair to compliment my Contemporary Windsor Side Chair.  Here is the other variation of my Contemporary Windsor Arm Chair
