Table Desk with Pencil Legs: I named the desk after pencil-post beds which have tapered octagonal posts. This pencil-leg table with a drawer works well for desks up to 60″ long. Without a drawer it can be as long as you want and in both cases the depth is up to you. I can make larger tables with drawers, but they need to have a center support in the long direction; the resulting drawers are less than half the table width deep. I have also made this desk with other combinations of woods (like the birdseye maple top and a dyed cherry base pictured) as well as natural and dyed finishes.
